I don't watch reality television, pretty much ever.
Sure, I'll admit to recording (dvring?) every episode of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding over the weekend, and staring transfixed at that for hours, but beyond that, I don't do it.
I don't count Food Network shows (Iron Chef, the Best Thing I Ever Ate, Dinner Impossible) as reality tv.
But
I saw a promo that intrigued me. Some channel is debuting a show called "Big Sexy". I think it's just a few episodes, following some charmingly chubby chicks in some big city, New York, likely. I think they do or want to work in fashion somehow. There's like five of them or four.
See how well I pay attention?
What I found interesting in the promo was how one of the women said
"Some people don't get that not all fat chicks want to be thin"
Huh
I could totally be friends with these girls. It appears we are like-minded.
I saw bravo to the network (not sure which one) is going to be airing this show, and double brava to the women in the show.
I'm all for fat acceptance, and promoting body positive ideas. I hope the show does well.
No
I won't be watching it, because it's still reality tv. I believe more in getting out and living my life, rather than sitting on my ass watching other people's lives on tv.
Plus
My life is WAY more fun and interesting than anything I could watch on tv.

I saw an episode of that Gypsy wedding thing! I was flipping through channels and something caught my eye. I ended up watching the rest of it just out of pure amazement, but did not want to see anymore.
I'm a sucker for 9pm TV, which happens to be a lot of Bravo reality stuff. I'm too pooped to be uber-functional, my attention span is shot, and I'm sick of the news, so Top Chef, Project Runway, Anthony Bourdain (I know, they're not all Bravo), bring 'em on!
My teevee watching is pretty much limited to sports, with clicking around cooking and documentaries when I don't feel like doing anything else a secondary use for it. Since I got the DVR thingie in January, I've been willing to commit to a couple of series (Justified, Burn Notice, Falling Skies) because I don't have to remember when to watch or turn off a baseball game.
But I've never had the slightest interest in reality shows, and then, out of nothing more than an alignment of interests, I watched "Sons of Guns". And man, I LOVE that family. They truly love and respect each other, there's none of that horrible bickering and anger, they are a great bunch of characters doing interesting stuff. So I'm stuck on that one...
I always felt that reality tv was just a scam to get out of paying for actors and writers.
Also, it led to MTV not playing music videos anymore.
Now I don't watch TV. So maybe it's a good thing, after all.

I'm just relieved that "Big Sexy" doesn't involve Andrew Breitbart.
**shudder**

word. except you get out and live like 3 people's lives! ;)
I never watched Buffy with any regularity the first time through, but since I am such a huge fan of Firefly and Dr. Horrible, I have been going through the eps on Netflix.
It strikes me that Whedon didn't really hit his stride until halfway through the second season....

Tru dat. ....ummm, do Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs count as 'reality TV'?
also, mikey, if you start watching "Sons of Anarchy" when it starts up in September, we can all hang out here and blog about it!
- MUCH better than Falling Skies. Right up there with "The Shield" and/or "Justified", IMHZO.
...umm, be prepared for Von crushing on Charlie Hunnan though.
Having said that about Buffy, the werewolves are....really fucking hilarious.
